The Final of the EPSCA Inter-Association County Team Championship 2019 took place in Solihull on 30th March 2019. The Somerset Under 11’s team qualified from the semi-final round and competed against 15 other teams in this national final.

Each team provided 20 players, with each playing 3 games of chess. The Somerset team finished in 10th place of the 16 teams, with 27 points. This is a fantastic achievement, one of the best performances from a Somerset Under 11’s team in this competition.

There were some great games throughout the boards. Every 0.5 point counted, and it was pleasing to see Somerset players involved in some of the last games being played in the hall, battling for every point available.

All players scored at least 0.5 points and should be proud of their achievement.
